Haha!!

You are absolutely right about the social networking tools out there! I signed on to Facebook only two months ago and I have hundreds of folks on my "wall" now that follow what is going on. Trust me folks...people will come out of the woodwork!! It's great! And it will spread the word about your VR so quickly! I'm just starting to get into Twitter and it's actually lots of fun.

Get out there and be little social butterflies! You'll be amazed at how fast you'll catch on!!

Social Networking.

Actually Angie is Verminophobic.
So with that out of the way, what is Social Networking? And how can we get it to work for us and increase bookings? That's what we want right? So let's talk social networking.:)
Earlier, I discussed Twitter and how we can use that as an inbound marketing technique.
Myspace, Facebook, Linkedin & Twitter are among the most popular social networking sites. People use these sites to connect with friends and colleagues, network and meet other people. Painless so far.
So think of all these like a party. Everytime you're at one of these sites, you're at a party. And what do we do at parties? We talk about our family, our relationships and the weather. But not everyone wants to hear about your family and relationships at these parties. So what do we do? Simply talk about what they would like to hear.
When we had our vacation rental in Roatan, I could talk about what a beautiful day it was and LINK to pictures and talk it up a bit. But I would never just talk about my property. That's there and not going anywhere, but what's going on around it will engage the reader! And then, voila, they're going to tell others!
And all this has some 'netiquette' associated with it. Imagine a business reception. Now you wouldn't walk in and start yelling to everyone about your rental now would you? (Maybe after 11pm :w00t: )So the same rules do apply. Find your balance, don't dominate the conversation, don't consistently talk about yourself, and listen.
So...with these sites, we can lead people into the renting process... for free!
Just to reiterate:
1. Target your audience with content they'll enjoy
2. Don't just be product-specific. You'll eventually tune 'em out.
3. Encourage people to contact you. It doesn't have to be about your property!
4. Get involved! Particpate, give it a shot! If that particular group

So in the end social networking sites make it easy for people to create a profile about themselves and use it to create a virtual network and through that they can view your property.

I know this was a bit long-winded, but I hope you enjoyed the read!

Jason
